I seriously cannot believe it's the end of July already. Time for our monthly meet-up post already?!? But I didn't even have a chance to do a mid-month reminder, can we go back to mid-month? Please? ;)
I fared poorly on my goal completion last month, but this month has been even worse! Between traveling for a few days (to the Renegade SF show) to coming home sick to now buying a house (holy cow!) I haven't even had time to blog here as usual (notice all the nice guest posts that have been taking center stage?) let alone work on my goals, oi!
But this is not a day for excuses, right? This a day for acknowledging what hasn't been done yet, focusing on what needs to get done and making a plan to do it. So, let's do it.
Here's how I fared for July:
July Business Goals
- Inbox zero! Email management would = a much (much much) happier life
- Get consulting services list with pricing ready for clients
- Make consulting page and banner for biztips
- Announce consulting services on the blogs by end of July
Last month I cut my goals to very few. All the marketing ones are getting done TO-DAY, so I'm cheating a bit and crossing them off the list pro-actively to hold myself accountable. (And gee, I just really need a goal keeper self-esteem boost and crossing those off helps!) I have the info all ready, just have to present it to the world so by end of day, they will be done. The inbox zero goal (or even something close to it) is still but an impossible dream at this point, but I have to keep it on there. Before the fall rush starts, I must be in control of my inbox. Must.
So, since there will be lots of house closing things to contend with for Aug also, I'm keeping the list short again.
August Business Goals
- Take. Back. Your. Inbox. Enough already! Schedule one day to focus solely on email- deleting, organizing, answering, etc. And keep it up from there.
- Make the nativation/sidebar changes to Modish & BIZtips you've been planning
- Get into the pre-posting habit. Focus on having posts ready for the next day by at least the night before. Reserve time every Sunday to get a jumpstart on posts for the week. No more last minute nancy-ing.
Fall gets CRAZY around blogland. From September on, it's gonna be busy busy and even busier into holiday season, so I need to make August really about getting myself more organized and finding good preparation habits so I can be ready for fall.
What are your August goals? What do you need to focus on before the fall season really kicks in and business starts (usually) getting busier? Remember to make your goals small, specific and acheivable. Instead of "Build a new website" list all the little tiny goals that are going to get you there, like "find a host" "buy a domain name", etc.

To participate in the meetup:
- post a list of your business related goals for Aug, along with your checked off July if you'd like, on your own blog
- come back here and leave a link to your post in the comments (*If
you don't have your own blog to post to, feel free to just leave your
list of goals right here in the comments to play along!)
- Then, check out everyone else's lists as they leave comments here- click their links, hop to their blogs, say hello, meet and greet and support each other because that's what it's all about! And if you've participated before, maybe try to say hi to a couple new participants you're unfamiliar with this time around.

Good luck this month! I'm putting a note on my calendar right now to post a mid-month reminder about our goal lists here to help us all stay on track. Let's meet back here Monday Aug 31st to discuss our goals for Sept! Until then, I look forward to reading all your August plans!

ps: I kinda like the idea of doing these meet-ups on the last day of each month, instead of the first Friday of each month as we originally did, if that's ok with everyone? I think it's a date that'll stick in the minds of people better and it seems cleaner for the new month=new goal list idea. So the day of the week for our meetups will change per month. And if the last day of the month falls on a weekend, we'll meet the Fri before or Mon after. Sound ok?
