I love the moment of spotting the first butterfly of the season. It gives me the feeling that spring is really here, that the metamorphosis of the earth from barren to bountiful is in full effect. Paul Villinski has taken that notion into his artwork, transforming trash into fluttering beauties. Literally.
He makes these gorgeous, realistically crafted butterflies out of crushed beercans collected from the streets of New York City and sometimes, old records. Talk about a metamorphosis.
