About
Modish (pronounced: mode-ish) is a daily design and style blog featuring handmade goods. "Modish" means stylish and the blog was created in an effort to present handmade items as stylish, practical and unique alternatives to mass-produced ones (yech!) Since April 2006, editor Jena Coray has been dedicated to sharing the best handmade creations she can find with her readers. In doing so, she hopes to encourage them to buy handmade, make things themselves and be inspired by seeing what a creative mind and a good pair of hands can do together.
Jena originally started Modish as a way to promote her own jewelry business, along with fellow indie businesses, but the blog grew so large so fast, that her jewelry soon fell by the wayside to support her first passion, writing. In July 2007, she was able to quit her day job and dedicate herself to Modish full time. She feels honored to be part of the handmade community as an editorial voice and feels excited everyday she gets to share a new handmade talent with her readers.
In her (too few) spare moments away from the computer, you might find Jena curled up in a cushy vintage chair with a book in her hand and a cat on her lap, outside playing fetch with her big-headed dog Otis, or cuddling up for a movie or episode of The Office with her favorite mister, Justin. Sometimes she even has time to take pictures, go out for some delicious veggie food with the boy or desirously window-shop the boutique lined streets of Portland. Oh and she really likes donuts; there's always time (and room) for donuts.
